Overview

When joint pain starts to shape your days

Many people who contact us have lived with joint pain for years. They have tried physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication and cortisone injections, and some have been told that joint replacement is the next step.

Regenerative joint therapy is a non-surgical option that some of these patients choose to explore. Placental mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and exosomes are injected directly into the affected area under imaging guidance. MSCs are studied for their ability to modulate inflammation and to signal surrounding tissue — which is why they are being researched for osteoarthritis and soft-tissue injuries.

It is not a replacement for surgery in every case. During your free review we tell you honestly whether we think it is a reasonable option for your joint.

How the treatment works

Treatment takes place in our procedure room. After the area is cleaned and numbed, the physician uses ultrasound or other imaging to place the injection precisely into the joint or soft tissue. Depending on your plan, an intravenous infusion may be added to support the systemic effect.

  • Written plan. If a protocol seems reasonable for you, you receive the plan, schedule and total price in writing.

Recovery and what to expect

Most people walk out of the clinic the same day. Mild swelling, stiffness or soreness at the injection site for a few days is common. We usually ask patients to avoid strenuous exercise for a short period and to follow a gradual activity plan.

Regenerative processes take time. Some patients report changes in comfort within weeks, others over several months, and some notice little change. We cannot predict or guarantee an outcome, and we ask you to keep your own physician informed.

Risks and limitations

As with any injection, possible side effects include pain or swelling at the injection site, bruising, infection, allergic reaction and temporary flare-ups of symptoms. Treatment may not be suitable if you have an active infection, active cancer, certain blood disorders or are pregnant. Advanced bone-on-bone arthritis, severe deformity or mechanical instability often require surgical evaluation.

Your physician will go through your individual risks during the review and on the day of treatment.

Common questions

Can this help me avoid knee replacement?

Some patients explore regenerative therapy to delay or reconsider surgery, but we cannot promise that it will replace a joint replacement. Advanced joint damage usually needs a surgical opinion. We tell you our view during the review.

Do you need my MRI or X-ray?

Yes. Recent imaging (ideally within the last 12 months) is very helpful. If you don’t have any, tell us — we can advise what to get before you travel.

Can more than one joint be treated?

Often yes, during the same visit. This is decided in your written plan.

When can I fly home?

Most patients return home the day after treatment. Your coordinator plans the schedule with you.

Other programs

Every program starts with the same free medical review.

Not sure if this is right for you?

Send us your records. A physician reviews your case for free, and a coordinator replies within one business day.
